Studio photo shoot for Met Office’s new iPhone weather app
February 9th, 2010We’ve completed a studio photo shoot for Met Office’s new iPhone weather app, available on iTunes for free. We can vouch it’s a great bit of software, and seems mighty accurate. Check it out for your own iPhone.
So shooting in our studio, we concentrated on a range of angles and lighting set ups to give the client and the designers lots to choose from – black backgrounds, and some more moody/arty shots like the one pictured here.
Later on for the afternoon session model Tony Smith was drafted in to cover the hand shots. He’s a super chap, and with freshly moisturised cuticles was able to add a great look to the shots. He’s available through the Mustard Model Agency.
It’s a tough call shooting a small, shiny item that has lots of tricky elements to make your life hard as a photographer. Chrome edges that reflect your surroundings? Check. High gloss mirror finish screen that’s tricky to light? Check. LCD screen that disappears under strong lighting? Check.
Also worthy of note is that the gradient which fades to black at the bottom of the shot, as well as the reflection which appears under the iPhone is exactly was planned and set up before we took the photograph, so as to make any post production or Photoshop work unnecessary.
